Certified Programs Leader (CPL) Update

The TMPAA has partnered with The Institutes to amplify the educational offering for program professionals and develop a new Programs designation. You are likely familiar with The Institutes and their current designations including the CPCU, ARM, ARe, and others.

While finalizing the course material, we are pausing enrollment in Target University. We expect to have the final curriculum in the next few months and will announce the new designation at the 2024 Mid-Year Meeting in May.

The 23rd Annual TMPAA Summit brought more than 1,500 attendees to Scottsdale for three days of deal-making, networking, education, charity, and entertainment. Keynote speaker Walter Isaacson spoke on his new biography, Elon Musk, while VJ Dowling provided a market update. Other sessions focused on important issues including recruiting new talent, embracing AI, reinsurance, and the State of Program Business.

Program business grew 17% to $79B in '22


Results of the 2023 State of Program Business study were released at the recent Summit revealing an industry producing $79 billion in premium. “With its upbeat results, program business continued to outpace the overall commercial insurance marketplace. Administrators and carriers polled expect this trend to continue and see a bright future for the program space,” said the study.

15 CPL Designations Awarded

The TMPAA recognized 15 individual members for attaining the Certified Programs Leader (CPL) Designation during the 23rd Annual Summit. Members recognized for achieving the CPL completed and passed 13 required Target University courses and met program and industry experience expectations set out by the Association.

3 Agencies Earn Best Practice Recertification

Clarion Associates, US Assure, and Venture Insurance Programs recieved the Association’s Best Practice Designation at the 23rd Annual Summit. These particular awards were recertifications, required every three years to maintain the integrity of the designation. Successful Best Practice agencies are recognized by program business professionals as "best in class" operations.

Choose a meeting location in advance

The Carrier Meeting Room will be open for the duration of the Summit. Carriers can reserve a numbered table on a poster outside the room upon registration and logo signs will be available for further visibility. When setting appointments with members, please indicate if you will be located in the Carrier Meeting Room.

Red, white, and blue flags will also be displayed at different places in the Target Markets registration area (Hall of State). Select a color to meet at when setting appointments with attendees to cut down on congestion directly in front of the Target Markets registration table.

London Learning Experience for PAs

2023 Mid-Year Meeting Recap

MEETING RECAP »

The 2023 Mid-Year Meeting brought together 975 program professionals in Boston, MA for three days of networking, education, and deal-making. Headline speakers included Representative Liz Cheney and Karen Clark, founder of the first catastrophe modeling company. Other sessions addressed the evolution of outsourcing, growing your network, leveraging actuarial analysis, a Lloyd's Market update, and a discussion on "A Market in Transition".

CPL Designations Awarded

The TMPAA recognized five individuals for attaining the Certified Programs Leader (CPL) Designation during the 2023 Mid-Year Meeting – Lee Boyd, Rudy Garcia, Jeffrey Marks, Benjamin Martinez, and Chad Wenzelspratt. 

 

Four recipients also received a $1,000 charitable gift to an organization of their choice for completing the Dean Thompson CPL Challenge.

2023 Program Business Study

The TMPAA is conducting the 9th State of Program Business Study this year, the results of which will be shared at the Summit in October. Along with metrics that show changes in the size and scope of the program industry segment, each study collects information on emerging issues in the space to help inform your business strategy. Surveys are expected out in April – participation bonuses included!
